Tiffany lives at one of our Choices facilities and has been with Black Hills Works since 2000. Over the years, Tiffany has worked toward becoming more independent and maintaining a job that she enjoys. Tiffany likes to work because she LOVES to shop! She is working on saving her money and budgeting. Tiffany is also working on improving her health and cutting back on her soda.
Tiffany has worked at Mount Rushmore for a couple of years now and loves it! A couple of weeks ago, Tiffany was asked to share how much she likes her job with the Mount Rushmore Society for their annual appeal. Tiffany was happy to do her part! Andrea, our Black Hills Works Foundation President, took Tiffany to meet with the staff at the Mount Rushmore Society and shared some of her story:
Tiffany spent this past summer working at the Carvers Café at Mount Rushmore through a partnership with Black Hills Works. With her infectious laugh and bright smile, Tiffany greeted customers from around the country and helped them by bussing tables and keeping things clean.
At a site that is known for representing independence and freedom, Tiffany was able to mark a milestone of her own independence by using the money that she earned to open her very first checking and savings accounts. She enjoys this newfound freedom of being able to shop and buy things for herself and looks forward to returning next year.
“Working at Mount Rushmore is the best job ever. The mountain goats are my favorite thing. The people are nice. I made new friends and I can’t wait to go back next year.” Tiffany ended the meeting by warmly saying, “Thank you, Buddy!”
When summer ended, Tiffany did not waste any time getting a full-time job during the fall and winter. She now works at Country Inn, but can’t wait for her job at Mt. Rushmore to start again. When Tiffany is not working, she enjoys getting out and about with day services.
