Services Offered
Supported Community Employment on Location
We have business partnerships where crews of participants are led by support staff to complete needed services on location. Hotel housekeeping, janitorial, and assembly and packaging are a few examples of the types of services these crews provide. Assessment, training, and ongoing support are the benefits of this vocational option.
Federal Contracts
Black Hills Works provides job opportunities for adults with disabilities through federal contracts, primarily at Ellsworth Air Force Base. Our employees with disabilities work at the Postal Service Center, Official Mail Center, Base Supply Store, Raider Café, and across base-wide janitorial services. We also employ workers at two GSA contracts located at the Federal Building and Vehicle Marshalling.
Additionally, we hold contracts at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, NE, for the Commissary, King Dining Facility. We provide rehabilitation and transportation services for our Omaha employees.
Independent Community Employment
Our employment support staff can help participants receive the assessments and on-the-job training needed to prepare them for a job in a community business. Through our business partnerships, we have the opportunity to match people to available positions and provide intermittent follow-up support to maintain independent employment.
Project Skills
Project Skills is a paid work experience program for high school students with disabilities; providing students with opportunities to learn different employment skills in a variety of job placements. The work experience can last from a minimum of 30 hours to a maximum of 250 hours annually.
