Donor Support

"It does my heart good to know that my contributions are really helping to make that kind of impact in their lives." — Janet K.

Thanks to the charitable support of donors like you, lives are transformed each and every day at Black Hills Works, a nonprofit organization supporting nearly 600 people with disabilities in our community.

Every donation we receive has a direct impact on their lives. The gap between the costs reimbursed by the government and the real costs to provide care and supports is significant. Simply, it is only because of our caring community of donors – like YOU – that we have been able to provide highly individualized care to every individual we support for more than 62 years.

Together we will continue to change lives! Thank YOU!

Ways to Give

Life is complex. The timing might be perfect right now for you to give, or it may not be the right time for you to make the impact you want to make. We are happy to explore with you current and future giving options and find a path that is consistent with your priorities and capacity. We accept financial and non-cash gifts, recurring gifts, and pledges for future giving, such as planned or estate gifts.

Online
Our online giving option is secure and convenient.

By Mail
Checks made payable to the “Black Hills Works Foundation” and mailed to:
Black Hills Works Foundation
514 Mt Rushmore Rd
Rapid City, SD 57701

Recurring Gifts
Please consider a recurring gift – a donation given on a schedule and in an amount that is convenient for you (e.g., monthly). Recurring gifts provide donors the opportunity to make a consistent and meaningful impact without the hassle.

Memorials, Tributes, and Celebrations
A donation in lieu of flowers or gifts is a touching way to honor someone you love, celebrate a special occasion, or remember someone you lost. Memorials, tributes, and celebrations are acknowledged in our quarterly newsletter.

Community Foundation Designated Funds
The Black Hills Works Foundation maintains designated funds for our local and state community foundations. You can contribute to Black Hills Works’ designated funds at the South Dakota Community Foundation and the Black Hills Area Community Foundation, to directly support the mission of Black Hills Works.

Donor-Advised Funds
If you have a donor-advised fund (DAF), please consider a gift to the Black Hills Works Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.

Appreciated Stocks
By donating appreciated stocks you can avoid capital gains tax and take a charitable deduction, all while making a big impact in the lives of people with disabilities. We encourage you to discuss this option with your trusted financial advisor.

Leave a Legacy
We invite you to become an integral part of the future of Black Hills Works through a planned gift. Planned giving includes contributing noncash avenues such as real estate or stock during your lifetime, creating a trust, or including Black Hills Works in your estate plan. Charitable will bequests, for example, are easy to do and cost nothing during your lifetime. Individuals who have included the Black Hills Works Foundation as part of their legacy plan become members of our distinguished Evergreen Society.

To assist you in your planning, the Black Hills Works Foundation offers a free quarterly event to connect you with planned giving and estate planning experts, to include attorneys, CPAs, trust officers and social security experts. Our 2022 schedule is as follows. Just click on the date for more information (additional details will be added as each date approaches):

We encourage you to discuss all your options with your attorney. More information is available in “Leaving Your Legacy: The Black Hills Works Foundation Guide to Planned Giving.”
