Pathways to Possibility…this is our theme for 2026! Throughout the year, we’ll be sharing stories of how doors open when people come together—creating pathways that support full, meaningful lives. These stories will include the 24 honorees that will be celebrated at our Annual Recognition Gala.
Meet Jesse! He grew up in Denver, Colorado and moved to Rapid City as a teenager. He graduated from Stevens High School and joined Black Hills Works in 2010. He is involved in residential programming and Special Olympics. Jesse enjoys bowling. He also helps distribute programs at Flutter Productions’ stage performances.
Do you have a job? I don’t have a job right now, but I’ve always wanted to work at KOTA because I love the weather! My staff try to take me to KOTA at least once a quarter.
People who are important to you: My mom, aunt, two siblings (I’m the oldest), and grandparents are all important to me.
What makes you happy: I love helping out with the fire and tornado drills at my residence and two other locations. I really enjoy all things weather-related and watching tornadoes. I listen to my weather radio all the time to know what the weather is doing. I was honored with the Black Hills Works Spotlight Award for helping with fire drills. I also like sports, especially baseball.
What you want people to know about you: I’m funny, happy, and smart. I love the weather. I’m nice and polite.
Favorite things: I love Olive Garden and pepperoni pizza. I also like going on picnics by the lake with my staff so I can watch the weather. I really like the movie “The Klumps” and quote it all the time at home.
What is one thing you would like to accomplish in 2026? I would like to go to the Luke Bryan concert later this summer.
What are you most proud of: I take great pride in helping with the fire drills.
Best part of being part of BHW: It’s always fun where I live. I like having a place to call home and people to help me when I need it.
