Shared Living

Shared living is a a paid arrangement of services provided in the private home of an individual or a family (the Host Home Provider or Independent Contractor). It’s built on the foundation of life sharing, developing natural supports, and being an active member of the community.

The success of shared living rests on the match between the individual with a disability and the Host Home Provider. The matching process takes time and is rooted in Person Centered planning.

Upon certification through Black Hills Works, the host home provides services, including assistance, support, and guidance in areas such as daily living, safety and security, community involvement, healthy lifestyle, social and spiritual, and citizenship and advocacy.

If you have the desire to support an individual with a disability in your home, to provide for a more meaningful life, you are encouraged to apply!
