Opportunities through Community…this is our theme for 2025! Throughout the year, you will learn how people supported by Black Hills Works are connected to our community through the opportunities you make possible. These stories will include the 24 honorees that will be celebrated at our Annual Recognition Gala.
Meet Colby! She was born in Cody, Nebraska and moved to Rapid City five years ago to join Black Hills Works. She is involved in residential programming, Special Olympics, and Flutter Productions.
People who are important to you: My parents and brother, and staff at Black Hills Works. My mom makes the best food ever!
What makes you happy: Dancing, riding my horse, and flying in my dad’s airplane between Rapid City and the ranch I grew up on in Nebraska.
What you want people to know about you: I have a beautiful smile and I sing.
Favorite things: Country music, especially Taylor Swift, Johnny Cash, and Carrie Underwood. I like Sponge Bob, the movie Racing Stripes, and shrimp at Texas Roadhouse.
Favorite activities or hobbies: Being outside, swinging, and going on outings with my housemates.
What is one thing you would like to accomplish in 2025: Competing in track and field and bowling with Special Olympics.
Best part of being part of BHW: My friends, staff, and my nice, quiet room at a Black Hills Works home.
