Opportunities through Community…this is our theme for 2025! Throughout the year, you will learn how people supported by Black Hills Works are connected to our community through the opportunities you make possible. These stories will include the 24 honorees that will be celebrated at our Annual Recognition Gala.
Meet William. He grew up in Pine Ridge, South Dakota and joined Black Hills Works in 2008. He is involved in our residential programming.
People who are important to you: My mom and brother are very important to me. I like visiting her at home in Pine Ridge. We have a close-knit family. My childhood nickname was Billy Bean, and today they still refer to me as Beanzie.
What makes you happy: My family makes me happy, and so does having a trusting relationship with my residential staff.
What you want people to know about you: I am a very strong person.
Favorite meal: I love spaghetti, but I am not picky! I like everything.
Favorite activities or hobbies: I love to be out in nature. I can happily sit by a river or lake for hours. I also love to sit in the grass. I like dogs, and I like listening to Lakota music and drumming. I like to watch television and bounce on a trampoline.
What is one thing you would like to accomplish in 2025: Get more physical activity.
Best part of being part of BHW: Having a home with staff I like and the chance to go out to parks with my housemates.
How are you connected to the community? I am connected through nature.
Congratulations, William!
