Opportunities through Community…this is our theme for 2025! Throughout the year, you will learn how people supported by Black Hills Works are connected to our community through the opportunities you make possible. These stories will include the 24 honorees that will be celebrated at our Annual Recognition Gala.
Meet Teresa! She’s the youngest of six children and grew up on a farm near Herrick, South Dakota (south of Winner). She moved to Rapid City in 1987 to become a participant at Black Hills Works. She is involved with residential services and Flutter Productions.
Do you have a job? If so, where? I am retired now, but worked at Ellsworth Air Force Base in food service, area hotels, and at Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial.
People who are important to you: My large family is important to me! They spoil me all the time and we FaceTime often. I have lots of nephews and nieces.
What makes you happy: A lot of things make me happy! My family, my housemates, my boyfriend, and going out to eat.
What you want people to know about you: I love to be happy. I like working, seeing my family, and going to the bowling alley.
Favorite things: Blaze pizza, country music, and the colors pink and purple.
Favorite activities or hobbies: Watching TV and movies. I like to garden.
What is one thing you would like to accomplish in 2025: Making a trip to Nashville, Memphis, and Branson with my family this spring.
Best part of being part of BHW: Being able to do things like participate in Flutter Productions.
How are you connected to the community? I am connected through friendship. Rapid City is my home. I love it here.
